How to Gain Weight and Build Muscle

June 19, 2009 by Admin

It can often be a difficult thing to balance. You want to build muscle but don’t want to eat so much that you start putting on fat and not muscle at all. It’s all a matter of eating the correct nutrition and training intensely. To do that, you are going to have to have a plan of action.

Here are some tips to help you gain weight and build muscle at the same time:

Eat More – Sounds obvious but to pack on muscle, you are going to have to eat more than you are now. Increase your levels of carbs and proteins with each meal. Build it up slowly as you don’t want to consume too many calories early on.

Eat More Frequently – Just as you will be eating more, you should be eating more frequently too. Have smaller meals but have them more often like every 2-3 hours throughout the day. This keeps your metabolism at optimum levels and stops you feeling hungry too. Plus you are able to eat more during the day without feeling the effects of having large meals.

Eat More Protein – Protein is one of the most important nutritional ingredients in your diet, especially when weight training. It is the protein that builds your muscles, so make sure you eat plenty of fish, lean meats, chicken and protein shakes.

Train Hard – Of course, food alone won’t help you build muscle. You are going to have to train your muscle hard using heavy weights, low reps and 1-2 sets. This is how you will force your muscles to grow.

By using these tips wisely, you should be able to gain weight and build muscle at the same time.
