Workout Routines Build Muscle

June 8, 2009 by Admin

Workout RoutineOK, so you might be saying to yourself “Of course workout routines build muscle” but the point of this article is to let you know why they do and how you can improve your own routines to increase your muscle mass.

The first thing to realise is that a workout routine should be just that, a “routine”. It should be done regularly and as hard as you possibly can. That is the only way you will increase your muscles significantly. You need to train them hard enough to grow in their own right.

When planning your bodybuilding workout routine, you should be sure to include compound exercises. These are by far the best exercises to build up muscle mass. There are 3 you should focus on and they are the squat, the bench press and the deadlift.

The deadlift helps many muscle groups at the same time. It works the legs and back and really strengthens up the core.

The squat also helps the legs and lower back to become stronger.

The bench press is a chest and upper body builder. Many bodybuilders gain recognition at the gym for how much weight they can press. So it’s a big ego booster if you can press more than someone else. It is an exercise that should be supervised if you are just starting out.

By combining these compound exercises into your weekly routine, your core muscle groups will get stronger and you’ll be able to lift heavier weights thus increasing your muscle size and strength.

Just be sure that you aren’t doing more than 12 reps in a set because if you are then the weight isn’t heavy enough. The 12th rep should really hurt and feel like you cannot do it. This is the way to know that you are putting your muscles under enough pressure that they will grow to cope with it.
